What is the history of Noosa Women’s Shed

The Noosa Women’s Shed began as the vision of a determined mother-daughter team, Anne and Fiona McComb. After tirelessly promoting their ideas throughout the community, their dream became a reality in 2017 with the establishment of the Noosa Women’s Shed.

The group’s original mission was to teach women practical, tool-based skills, that would develop their confidence, foster independence and empower them to tackle their own home maintenance issues. Their vision was a welcoming workshop where women could learn to use tools safely and confidently.

In the years that followed, the Shed operated from several temporary locations. The search for a permanent home finally concluded with the construction of our current workshop in Rotary Way, off Wallum Lane, Noosa Heads – land owned by Unity Water – and provided to us under a 10 year license agreement.

The Noosa Men’s Shed has been, and continues to be, a strong supporter of our organisation. With their early guidance our tool accreditation sessions and workshops were launched. Today, these sessions are run by our women, for our women. We remain deeply grateful to the Noosa Men’s Shed for sharing the skills that helped us grown into who we are today.
