Welcome to the Noosa Women’s Shed

Our vision is to empower women to use tool based skills for their continuing growth and independence. We encourage our members to
Share, Learn and Make.

After the meeting we always have a social get together. It’s a chance to relax and mingle with like minded women. We catch up over a drink and nibbles. We ask for a contribution of $5/head to help with catering costs.

If you’re interested in joining our group you are most welcome to come along to our shed meetings to check us out.

What are our main goals for 2025 ?
  1. Our new shed is in place at Wallum Lane. Shed construction started in November 2024, and the exterior is now complete. We aim to complete the internal fit-out and utility connections to get the shed ready for Workshop use as quickly as possible.
  2. We will continue to broaden our members’ skills by creating more items in our shed. We will continue with the Stage one and two tool accreditations, the Tool Caddy Project and the Home Maintenance / Putting up Shelves workshop. We developed a new Christmas tree decoration at the end of last year, and this year we start new Stage 2 woodwork project, which is an angled pot stand. Other workshops are also being developed. These workshops are still being run out of our Noosa Seniors temporary workshop.
  3. We strive to increase our fundraising for our shed development through volunteering and enjoyable social activities such as our monthly Bunnings BBQs and our new Trivia Night event, being held on Saturday the 15th March.

As our President says, “Never underestimate what a group of women can achieve”. We’re moving forward.

In September 2022, we didn’t have a shed. And then thanks to Noosa Seniors we took a huge leap forward – they gave us access to a temporary shed. In September 2023, we increased the frequency of our tool accreditation and project building sessions. We work in our temporary shed four times a month – either a Monday morning or a Saturday afternoon. As membership grows we will expand the frequency of shed sessions.

The Noosa Men’s Shed have been a huge help in our learning phase. They have mentored us. Now, the “training wheels” are off. We have skilled members who can now pass their skills onto new members. It’s exciting. It’s what we have been working towards for some time.

Listen to our story. Robyn explains why Women’s Shed are such a vital part of our community.

In August 2022 Unity Water granted us a deed of licence on land in Wallum Lane, Noosa Heads. The land has been surveyed. Noosa Council has approved our Development Application. We have been successful in our application for a grant. We have funds to build our own shed. The land has been cleared. In November 2023 we selected the company to build our shed.

In November 2024 the shed building was erected, and now needs the internal fit-out completed. We have also been running regular working bees to keep the environment around the shed clear of major weeds.

Who steers the NWS ?

Like all clubs we have a management committee tasked with bringing our goals into fruition. We’re all volunteers. We are sharing our life skills to help the NWS achieve its’ goals. We don’t have the resources to fund a dedicated Admin person. The committee shares that role.

Our best form of contact is email. We have an email contact form on our ‘Contact Us’ page. At the bottom of every page is the link to our Facebook page.
